Biodegradable electrospun scaffolds for skin wound regeneration: a review

چکیده
Over the years, skin substitutes have been sought as an alternative for treatment of different pathologies. In this article, we focus on describing use biodegradable nanofibrillar polymers in acute and chronic wounds, obtained by electrospinning technique. Electrospinning is a tissue engineering technique used to generate nanofibers that are characterized having high surface area, low molecular weight, resistance rates, nanoporosity, which why they particularly interesting biomedicine, with potential applicability. replacement tubular organs. context, created has expectations application study wounds.

Biodegradable synthetic scaffolds for tendon regeneration.
Tissue regeneration is aimed at producing biological or synthetic scaffolds to be implanted in the body for regenerate functional tissues. Several techniques and materials have been used to obtain biodegradable synthetic scaffolds, on which adhesion, growth, migration and differentiation of human cells has been attempted. Scaffolds for tendon regeneration have been less frequently proposed, bec...
متن کاملBiodegradable Polysaccharide Gels for Skin Scaffolds
A variety of skin substitutes are used in the treatment of full-thickness burns. Substitutes made from skin can harbor latent viruses, and artificial skin grafts can heal with extensive scarring, failing to regenerate structures such as glands, nerves, and hair follicles. Biodegradable and biocompatible hydrogels, however, rarely mimic the strength of the epidermis. Therefore, novel and practic...
متن کاملEnhanced wound healing with biodegradable scaffolds
Deep wounds, such as third-degree burns, often heal with disfiguring scars that are inelastic and lack sweat glands, oil glands, and hair follicles. Therapies that stimulate the regeneration of blood vessels in the wound could significantly improve the healing process, but remain elusive. Guoming Sun et al. (pp. 20976–20981) assessed whether a biodegradable, dextranbased hydrogel—a 3D network o...
متن کاملElectrospun 3D Fibrous Scaffolds for Chronic Wound Repair
Chronic wounds are difficult to heal spontaneously largely due to the corrupted extracellular matrix (ECM) where cell ingrowth is obstructed. Thus, the objective of this study was to develop a three-dimensional (3D) biodegradable scaffold mimicking native ECM to replace the missing or dysfunctional ECM, which may be an essential strategy for wound healing. The 3D fibrous scaffolds of poly(lacti...
متن کاملElectrospun poly(caprolactone)-elastin scaffolds for peripheral nerve regeneration
Peripheral nerve regeneration can be enhanced by chemical and mechanical cues for neurite growth. Aligned and randomly oriented electrospun nanofibers of poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) or a blend of PCL and elastin were fabricated to test their potential to provide contact guidance to embryonic chick dorsal root ganglia for peripheral nerve regeneration. Scanning electron microscopy was used to ana...
